Gnanvarsha 2018

The much awaited annual conference of BSOG on its golden jubilee year - Gnanavarsha 2018 was conducted with all splendor on 27th and 28th of October  at Gayitri Vihar, Palace grounds, Bengaluru. The intent of this conference was to create a platform for sharing experience, knowledge and to indulge in some cultural extravaganza.

As the name signifies, Gnana means Knowledge and Varsha means Shower, the two day conference was indeed a shower of knowledge with brilliant scientific sessions. The theme of the conference was Protocols and evolving practices in OBGYN. Adding icing to the cake was the splendid cultural program on the evening of 27th which was a platform for all BSOGians who came together on a common platform and made merry.

The program began on both days at 8am sharp. The first hour was allotted to YUVA SPARDHE on both days. It was dedicated to young talent promotion and was the competitive platform for the under 40s in the form of oral papers or posters presentations, giving a great opportunity to many of our young consultants. The themes for Yuva Spardhe for free paper presentations was "Adolescent health care, clinic and outreach programme" and for poster was "Recent advances in OBG" and miscellaneous.

There were three orations, keynote addresses, panels and deliberations covered along with cultural events over a period of two days. Experts from various subspecialties were brought together to deliberate and discuss on various interesting topics. This year the orations were on Fetal Therapy, latest ART techniques and the role of artificial intelligence in the future of medicine. The keynotes which were the highlights of the conference, comprised of hormones for menopausal and the transition and the impact of NCD (Non Communicable Diseases) on pregnancy. The session on adolescent health care in keeping with the theme of BSOG for 2018-19- "Empower the Adolescent and Nurture the Future", panels on obstetric protocols and AUB and the wonderful master class surgical video workshops were the other significant features worth mentioning.

The cultural events need a special mention too. The saga of a village girl was depicted in the folk-lore tale "Namma Haadu Nammadu" followed by " BSOG has TALENT". A medlay of songs on Modern Ramayana enacted by the BSOG members which was very hilarious was nicely matched with the program following it of Sampurna Ramayana where a part of the epic was enacted. The Bollywood dance was really classy.

Ms. Malathi was the Chief Guest for the Inauguration BSOG appreciated and acknowledged the prize winners of Yuva Spardhe Drs… and gave away certificates. books and cash prizes. BSOG gave away cash prizes to the member postgraduates who had secured prizes at zonal, State level and National Conferences for the paper/poster presentations also.
