COVID 19 PANDEMIC PERIOD AND BSOG
Dear friends,
Its being a very trying last few weeks of the tenure of team bsog 2019-20. The pandemic of COVID-19 dawned on India and with it brought the series of lockdowns. The grand plans of investiture ceremony and handing the proceedings to new team had to be postponed.
COVID-19 posed very tough challenges on the health care system. BSOG in collaboration with FOGSI was up for the challenge and lead from front, in educating and enlightening the members about the new disease.
BSOG in association with fetal medicine specialists developed and propagated the guidelines for antenatal scanning, as early as 28.03.20. On the same day FOGSI also came out with GCPR guidelines on COVID-19 and pregnancy, version.1, BSOG made sure it reached all its members.
We had to re work our scheduled educational programmes & CMEs. BSOG took lead in organizing very useful webinars and other online teaching programs, helping members to be well equipped to face the pandemic. T.O.T programme was organized in association with RGUHS & KASOGA, on 22.4.20, which prepared leaders who could impart the necessary knowledge to other members, on practice during the pandemic.
A very useful webinar on medico legal awareness program was organized by BSOG on 26.04.20, which was well received by the members. It cleared lots of doubts members had regarding the roles and responsibilities they had as practicing doctors and medico legal implications during the pandemic.
BSOG also was in collaboration with health care administration of the state in formulating the guidelines for obstetric practice during COVID-19. On 30.04.20 we organized a webinar on Safe Obstetric & Reproductive Health Practice in times of Covid 19, participated by Dr.Rajkumar, deputy director, H&FWS, Govt. of Karnataka. BSOG extended all the help & services needed for the state through its members.
BSOG also was fore front in social responsibility, by providing, free medications for the needy, making available PPE kits for the frontline health care workers.
The CMEs continued with a very useful and relevant topics through the lockdown, covering all aspects of OBG practice. The webinar on A-Z of CIN, on 4.5.20 had overwhelming response and a repeat session had to be organized.
