CME ON ADOLESCENT HEALTH- OVERCOMING THE CHALLENGES

The CME on adolescent health – overcoming the challenges, was conducted on 19th May 2019 at BMCRI Auditorium. It was an interactive session with emphasis on psychosexual health, most common genital anomalies, ovarian tumors and a panel discussion. Over 100 Gynecologists from various hospitals had attended the CME.

Ace speakers like Dr Padmini Prasad, Dr Uday Shankar [associate professor dept of Forensic Medicine] and Dr Rajendra (Consultant Psychiatrist, NIMHANS) enlightened us on psychosocial health. This knowledge was enhanced by the expert moderators Dr. Padmasri, Head of the department of OBG, SIMS, Dr. Gomathy Narayan and Dr. Vishnuvardhan

Most commonly encountered complaint among adolescent age group- the menstrual abnormalities were dealt in detail by Dr Bhojaraja, Dr.Chandrika Muralidhar, Dr. Shanthala .A Tea break was followed by talks – dr Vimala K R, Dr. Sushma Rai, Dr Nagarathnamma. The session was moderated by Dr Indira Reddy, and Dr. Jayanthi. Session 2 was followed by a sumptuous lunch.

Post lunch session had informative talks on mulleraian duct anomalies and its diagnosis by eminent surgeons like Dr. Guru charan singh, Dr. Akhila . The radiological counterpart was dealt in depth by Dr. Narayanan( Consultant radiologist)

The Ovarian masses were dealt in detail by the legends of Gyneconcology- Dr. Bafna, Dr. Sampath and Dr. Premalatha, whose talks gave clear picture of benign and malignant lesions, their workup and how to deal with cancers in the young. This was moderated and guided by great teachers like Dr. Jyothika Desai.

The session ended by applying all theory said and done to practical case scenarios and panel discussion – by Dr Sheela H.S, Dr Dhananjaya, Dr Gurucharan Singh, Dr Padmini Prasad.
